Hello Friends, it’s been a while hasn't it.

I’m sure all of you are having the same troubles as we are, no matter what part of the world you are in.

I can’t believe it’s been six months since the lockdown.

Honestly I don’t mind staying at home so much. I got to catch up on a lot of things, reading, studying, work, etc.

But I’m sure you’ve read plenty of commentary about the virus so let skip ahead.

I’ve been taking another look at my work. Reading for more inspiration and going over other’s work, more than creating my own. I’ve had many new projects planned in mind, but I’ve decided to develop them a bit more first. What book are you reading?

My inspiration for this gallery? - Wolfgang Tillman. So with that in mind, I stepped out today with my camera strapped on. (Yes and of course the mask as well :p) Locked in at 28mm prime, Acros, Optical VF only; letting what I see lead me more than trying to create something new.

So writing about my work has always been strange for me. I don’t always enjoy it since I don’t know if I’m the one writing, or if I’m just trying to keep up with it. But at the same time, I love artists who write about their work and share.

After writing a story I was always empty and both sad and happy’

- A Movable Feast (1957)

I’ve also realized that I don’t want my writing to distract from the other work I do. Reading the older posts, I realized that the pictures seem to be complementary to my writing, when really, it should be the other way around. I remembered why I wanted galleries instead of blogs when I first began.

So this time, I’m writing as soon as I got back, even before I organized and picked out the candidates for the new gallery. I’m hoping this can be a commentary style addition to my real work, a new gallery called ‘Just like in the Movies’ What does it mean? Who knows.

Please don’t be alarmed by the dark contrast in this gallery. I am happy and I am doing fine haha. I always wanted to do new projects in B&W and I really love the contrast I was able to pull from using Acros.

This time I wanted to focus more on the sunlight and the deep shadows. I’ve really been wanting to do this for a long time, and it’s related to a few other galleries I’ve been wanting to create. (Many of which I’ve been feeling stuck on the last mile for)

In contrast to those other projects, this isn’t something grand that I’ve been working on for months. But it is something that I really enjoyed doing. Not everything has to be so carefully planned and curated. So this is nothing fancy, just shooting as I see and as I feel.

And it’s about time I put something new out isn’t it?

Now is it any good? I won’t ever know how good it really is until I read it over in 10 years.

I’ve been saving this song for a really nice gallery, but I think I’m going to have to use it today.

Hier Encore - Charles Aznavour (1964) Don’t know it? Learn it, love it, live it.

Those of you who know me, know how much I love Charles Aznavour and his work. Really a big big fan, and inspires a lot of my work.

(Edit - I've been getting a lot of questions about this song. Yes, listen to the original in French)

Please enjoy - (click the image to go straight to 'Just Like in the Movies')
